This biometric safe was originally built by Honeywell. The safe division was then sold to Sicso and now it became part of First Alert. The 2084DB has numerous features in a home safe including being a fireproof safe, having both electronic and keyed locks as well as being a biometric safe. This safe has a UL fire rating to 1700 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour.

The biometric fingerprint lock on this safe can hold up to 9 different users programmed into the lock. The safe can also be opened by punching in a changeable combination into the electronic lock (which can hold up to 65k different codes). For further security, the safe requires a key to open it once either the biometric or electronic lock is used.

This safe is approximately 18″ cubic and comes with a 5 position adjustable shelf.

The protection of your home and valuables, from burglaries, fire or other kinds of forced or emergency entry, is something most people think about at one time or another. Many people invest in having a security safe or a fire safe to guard important documents and valuables, but what about the safety of your entire house? Have you left that in the hands of a doormat or a potted plant? What? Of course not! But many people do. After spending thousands of dollars on doors and windows and locks and security safes for valuables, they leave the main door key under a mat.

Digital Key Safe Boxes

The alternative is key safe boxes, especially the digital models that have a secure combination that can be entered just like any alarm system, very easily.

How large are they and where are they placed?

Key safe boxes are designed in a few different ways to accommodate different needs. The simplest variety will hold one or two keys and therefore is a small box that can easily be attached to a wall, a gate, a floor, or anywhere that’s convenient yet out of site. They do not attract attention any more than a small security panel would cause an intruder to want to break in. They are high-tech devices but easy to use.

What’s their Purpose?

Digital key safe boxes are designed with one specific purpose. To allow only authorized people access to a spare key to open your home, your car, your office or other building. Instead of giving each person, who occasionally requires a key to your door, an individual spare, you have one in a box on the premises. This enables children who come home from school to enter unaided. It may also be useful for an authorized maintenance person to enter and do work while a homeowner or apartment tenant may be away at work. It is also a means for elderly individuals to receive prompt care by emergency medical personnel even if they are unable to open the door. The access code to the key, or keys inside the safe box is known only to those who you give it to. Should there ever be a need to change the code, it’s easy. No need to call anyone, just follow the instructions and do it yourself.

Are They Expensive?

No. Small home key safe boxes cost almost nothing, around $25 to $40. Naturally there are many models, some cheaper others more expensive, but they are a relatively small investment.
