About Me

This site is simply for informational purposes only.  I make no representations about the information contained in it.  I am simply giving you my thoughts, opinions, and observations.  With that said, let me tell you a little about how I/this site got here.

My name is Todd Christiansen. I have been fascinated by safes and locks since I was a kid.  I remember learning how to drill a hole in the back of a master dial padlock to look inside and figure out the code from the tumblers.  Then someone taught me how to build a shim by cutting a pop can and using it to slip it past the latch and open the lock.  (now you can watch this on YouTube!)

As I got older, I played with this huge gun safe that my parents had.  Later, they bought a retail business and I loved seeing them open their safe with the money and receipts.  As I got a job out of college, I spent time with a retail company and worked closely with the loss prevention guys.  I enjoyed talking security and “what-if” scenarios.  They let me tag along on a couple of the store break-ins.  I got a chance to see how a burglar used a drill or a crowbar to open the safe.

Fast forward and now I am a gun owner with kids.  You will see many of my posts talk about protecting your guns, but more importantly protecting your kids.  I have bought several gun safes and pistol safes over the years.  I will often keep them for a couple years and then sell them for just a small discount off original price (they hold their value really well).  I then buy a bigger, faster, shiny new one!

I hope you enjoy the information on this site.  While I am not a safe professional, I give you my opinions and how I see it.
